The BT Riverside Tower is a tall office building in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was finished in 1998. This building was first built to be the main office, or "headquarters," for British Telecom in Northern Ireland.
It is located in a part of Belfast called Lanyon Place, right in the city centre. Today, the BT Riverside Tower is the seventh tallest building in Belfast.
What is the BT Riverside Tower?
The BT Riverside Tower is a modern office building. It has 14 floors, but BT staff originally used 11 of them. It stands about 61.88 meters (or 203 feet) tall. The company that designed this building was WDR & RT Taggart.
Who Works in the Tower?
When the building first opened, many British Telecom employees moved in. This happened in late 1999 and early 2000. They used all 11 floors that were set aside for them.
However, by 2008, some of the space became available. Other companies and groups now rent offices there. For example, AXA insurance has offices in the tower. The Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority also uses some space.
Famous TV Show Connection
One interesting fact about the BT Riverside Tower is its link to a popular TV show! The famous BBC drama called Line of Duty uses part of the building. The sixth floor is used as the set for the offices of "Anti-Corruption Unit 12." If you look closely, you can even see the original BT room numbers outside the meeting room doors in the show.
This shows how a real-life building can become part of a fictional world on television.
