How Bagdad Got Its Name
One story says the station was first called "Daddy's Bag." This name came from a fun railroad worker who lived there. Over time, people shortened it to "Bagdad."
Another idea is that someone who had trouble speaking clearly tried to say "Granddad," and it sounded like "Bagdad." A third story tells of a young boy whose father owned a feed store. This boy also had trouble speaking. Whenever a customer came in, he would excitedly shout to his dad, "Bag, dad!" These stories show how a place can get a unique name!
