Henri Baillon was given a special award called the Légion d'honneur in 1867. This is one of France's highest honors. It shows how important his work was. Later, in 1894, he became a member of the Royal Society. This is a famous group of scientists in the United Kingdom.
One of Baillon's most famous projects was the "Dictionnaire de botanique." This was a huge dictionary all about plants. It had many detailed drawings. Auguste Faguet created the beautiful wood engravings for this dictionary. These drawings helped people learn about different plants.
A plant group was even named after him! The plant genus Baillonia was named in his honor. This plant belongs to the Verbenaceae family. This shows how much he contributed to the study of plants. Henri Théophile Bocquillon named it after him.
