Bainbridge Island is an island located in Prince William Sound, Alaska, United States. It sits between the Kenai Peninsula to its west and Evans Island to its east.
How Bainbridge Island Got Its Name
Bainbridge Island, along with nearby Bainbridge Passage, Bainbridge Point, and Bainbridge Glacier, was named in 1794. The famous explorer George Vancouver gave these places their names. He chose them to honor a British astronomer named John Bainbridge.
