Discover Banshee: Kings Island's Inverted Thrill Ride
Banshee is a thrilling steel roller coaster found in the Action Zone area of Kings Island. It was built by a well-known company called Bolliger & Mabillard, often shortened to B&M. This amazing ride cost about $24 million to create!
What Makes Banshee Special?
When you ride Banshee, you sit in a train that hangs underneath the track. Your legs are free and dangle in the air. This design makes the ride feel very open and adds to the excitement. Banshee is known for its smooth ride and many twists and turns.
A Ride Full of Twists and Turns
Banshee is a very tall coaster, reaching a height of 167 feet. That's like climbing to the top of a 16-story building! From that height, you plunge down a 150-foot drop. The ride reaches speeds of up to 68 miles per hour.
During the ride, you'll go through seven different inversions. An inversion is when the track turns you upside down! These include:
- A dive loop
- A vertical loop
- A zero-G roll (where you feel weightless)
- Two batwings (a cool double inversion)
- A helix (a spiraling turn)
- An in-line twist
The entire ride lasts about 2 minutes and 40 seconds. It's packed with action from start to finish!
How Many People Can Ride?
Banshee has three trains, and each train can hold 32 riders. This means a lot of people can experience the thrill every hour. The ride can handle about 1,650 riders per hour. To ride Banshee, you need to be at least 52 inches tall. The maximum height for riders is 78 inches.
