Barbara Joosse was born in Grafton, Wisconsin. She was born on February 18, 1949. She went to college in Wisconsin. She studied at the University of Wisconsin--Stevens Point. Later, she earned her degree from the University of Wisconsin--Madison in 1970. She also took creative writing classes at the University of Wisconsin--Milwaukee. Barbara is a member of important writing groups. These include the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
