Barbie: A Fairy Secret is a fun computer-animated fantasy film from 2011. It's the 19th movie in the popular Barbie film series. This movie first came out in cinemas on February 22, 2011. Later, it was released on DVD on March 15, 2011, so everyone could watch it at home.
Story of the Movie
The movie starts at a big movie premiere. Barbie is there with her friend, Ken. Her co-star, Raquelle, accidentally steps on Barbie's dress and rips it. Luckily, Barbie's stylists, Carrie and Taylor, are secretly fairies! They use their magic to fix the dress quickly.
A photographer named Crystal takes a picture of Ken. She then goes to a magical place called Gloss Angeles. There, Crystal meets Princess Graciella. Crystal secretly gives the Princess a special tea. This tea has a magic potion that makes Graciella become enchanted with Ken's picture.
The next day, Barbie and Raquelle are arguing. Suddenly, Princess Graciella, Crystal, and two other fairies appear. They quickly take Ken away to Gloss Angeles! Carrie and Taylor try to stop them, but the magical portal closes.
Carrie and Taylor then tell Barbie and Raquelle their big secret: they are fairies! They explain that Ken is in trouble. If a human marries a fairy, they have to stay in Gloss Angeles forever. Meanwhile, in Gloss Angeles, Ken meets Zane, Graciella's boyfriend. Zane is not happy about Ken and challenges him to some contests.
Journey to Gloss Angeles
Barbie, Raquelle, and the fairies need to save Ken. They go to a clothing store and use a special "Fairy Flyway." This magical transport takes them all the way to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris!
The fairies tell Barbie and Raquelle about Lilianna Roxelle. She is a very old and wise fairy who lives on Earth. Lilianna tells them that Princess Graciella is under a magic spell. She gives Barbie a special antidote. If this antidote rains down on Graciella, it will break the spell.
Lilianna also shares that Taylor and Carrie were once banished from Gloss Angeles. The girls then use Lilianna's portal to continue their journey.
Breaking the Spell
Barbie, Raquelle, Taylor, and Carrie arrive in Gloss Angeles. They visit a shop called Wings and Things. There, they meet a human owner named Reena and her fairy husband, Graylon.
The group disguises themselves as cooks. They try to tell Princess Graciella about Crystal's magic potion. But Crystal recognizes Taylor's shoes and reveals them! The Princess then traps Barbie, Raquelle, Taylor, and Carrie in magical bubbles called furyspheres.
Inside the bubbles, Barbie and Raquelle talk. They realize they misunderstood each other. Raquelle explains she always wanted to be Barbie's friend. They apologize and become friends. This act of forgiveness is very powerful! It breaks the furyspheres, and their wings become real. They learn that forgiveness helps them fly!
They rush to stop the wedding between Graciella and Ken. Barbie pours the antidote over Graciella. The spell breaks, and Graciella is back to normal! She realizes Crystal tricked her. Graciella also explains why she banished Taylor and Carrie. They were once friends, but Graciella felt left out. With Barbie and Raquelle's help, Graciella lifts the ban, and the three fairies forgive each other. Graciella then marries Zane.
Back to Earth
After the wedding, Graciella tells Barbie and Raquelle that their wings will disappear when they go back to the human world. They will reappear if they return to Gloss Angeles. She also says their memories of this adventure will be erased. Graciella sends them back to Earth with magical dust.
The next morning, Barbie wakes up. She doesn't remember Gloss Angeles or the fairies, thinking it was a dream. But she and Raquelle are now good friends! At Wally's restaurant, Carrie and Taylor tell them they reconnected with an old friend (Princess Graciella). They are going back to their hometown (Gloss Angeles). In the last scene, Carrie and Taylor turn into fairies and fly back through the portal.
