He added new parts to the building. This expansion turned Pine Cottage into the "Barker House." For many years, it served as a hotel. Visitors could stay there when they came to Manitou Springs.
Today, the Barker House is no longer a hotel. It has been changed into a private apartment building. There are 48 different homes inside. The building still stands at 819 Manitou Avenue. It remains an important part of Manitou Springs' history.
