History of the Building
Early Years and Tallest Building
The building was finished in 1901. It was first known as the Union Trust Building. It was a very important building in Cincinnati. For a short time, it was the tallest building in the entire state of Ohio.
Changing Names and Uses
In 1985, the building got a new name. It was renamed the Bartlett Building. This happened when The Bartlett Company bought it. Many different businesses had offices there. These included an engineering firm, an airline reservation center, and even a pharmacy. There was also a jewelry store and a sandwich shop.
Becoming a Hotel
In 2006, the building was sold again. Later, in 2010, the building became empty. It stayed empty for a few years. Then, in 2013, a company from Columbus, Ohio bought it. They had big plans for the old building.
It was announced that the building would become a hotel. A lot of money was spent to change it. On July 25, 2014, the building reopened. It became the Renaissance Cincinnati Downtown Hotel.
The Renaissance Hotel Today
The hotel has 283 rooms and 40 suites. It also has many meeting rooms. There is a restaurant inside called D. Burnham's. This name is a tribute to Daniel Burnham. He was the architect who designed the building. This hotel was the third Renaissance Hotels brand to open in Ohio.
