The Battle of Morvedre happened in 1412. It was a fight between two groups of people who wanted to rule the Crown of Aragon. This was a time called an interregnum. An interregnum means there was no clear king after King Martin I died.
The two main people fighting for the throne were Ferdinand of Antequera and James II of Urgell. The battle took place in a city called Sagunto, which was known as Morvedre back then. Sagunto is in the Kingdom of Valencia.

Why Did the Battle Happen?
After King Martin I of Aragon died in 1410, he didn't have any children to take his place. This caused a big problem. Many people thought they should be the next king.
Two of the strongest people who wanted to be king were Ferdinand of Antequera and James II of Urgell. They both had many supporters. This led to a period of fighting and disagreement across the lands of the Crown of Aragon.
The Fight for the Crown
The Battle of Morvedre was an important part of this struggle. Troops who supported James II of Urgell were marching. They were led by Arnau Guillem de Bellera, who was the governor of Valencia. Their goal was to reach a place called Morella.
However, on their way, they met an army in Sagunto. This army supported Ferdinand of Antequera. It included soldiers from Castile, Aragon, and even some Valencian people who were on Ferdinand's side. This army was led by Diego Gómez de Sandoval.
What Happened During the Battle?
The battle was very fierce. Many people were killed. Around 2,000 to 3,000 people died in the fighting. Arnau Guillem de Bellera, who led James of Urgell's troops, was among those who died.
The soldiers who supported Ferdinand of Antequera won the battle. This victory was very important. It helped Ferdinand's side gain strong control over the Kingdom of Valencia. This control was a big step towards Ferdinand becoming the new king of Aragon.
