Bee Free Honee was a special sweet syrup made from apples. It was created as a plant-based (or "vegan") choice instead of regular honey. This product became famous after appearing on the TV show Shark Tank. It was made from simple ingredients like apples, lemon juice, and cane sugar. People could use it in many recipes just like honey. It was even safe for young children and those who were allergic to honey. Sadly, the company stopped making Bee Free Honee in 2019.

How Bee Free Honee Started

This unique apple syrup was discovered by accident! In 1999, a person named Katie Sanchez was trying to make apple jelly. Instead, she accidentally created this honey-like syrup.

The company officially started in 2012. They first made their products in River Falls, Wisconsin.

The Shark Tank Boost

In February 2016, Bee Free Honee was shown on the popular TV show Shark Tank. On the show, entrepreneurs present their business ideas to a panel of investors. After this appearance, sales of Bee Free Honee grew four times bigger! This success led the company to move its production to Texas.

Why No Bees?

Melissa Elms, one of the company owners, explained why their product was "bee-free." She said that by not using bees to make their product, they were helping honeybee populations. She believed that bees used in large-scale honey production are sometimes kept in unhealthy environments.

What Was in Bee Free Honee?

The main ingredients for Bee Free Honee were apple juice, cane sugar, and lemon juice. These simple ingredients made it a sweet and versatile syrup.

Different Flavors

Besides the original, Bee Free Honee also came in other interesting flavors. These included a spicy ancho chile flavor, a refreshing mint flavor, and one with slippery elm.

Where It Was Sold

You could usually find Bee Free Honee in stores that focused on organic and natural foods. Some of these stores included H-E-B, Sprouts Farmers Market, Vitamin Cottage Natural Grocers, Wegmans, and Whole Foods Market.

The product was also shown at big food events. It was featured at the Specialty Food Association's Summer Fancy Food Show in 2016 and the Winter Fancy Food Show in January 2017.
