What is the Prime Minister's Official Home?
Every country's leader usually has an official residence, which is a special house where they live and often work. Beit Aghion serves this purpose for Israel's Prime Minister. It's where the Prime Minister lives with their family and also holds important meetings with other leaders and officials.
A Brief History of Beit Aghion
The building itself has a history even before it became the Prime Minister's residence. It was built in 1936 and completed in 1938. For many years, it was a private home. It became the official residence of the Prime Minister of Israel in 1974. Before that, the Prime Minister lived in a different house, known as Beit Julius Jacobs.
Where is Beit Aghion Located?
Beit Aghion is situated in the Rehavia neighborhood of Jerusalem. This area is known for its quiet streets and beautiful buildings. It's located between the busy city center and another neighborhood called Talbiya. Because it's the Prime Minister's home, the area around Beit Aghion is very secure. Sometimes, you might even see a black curtain on Balfour Street, which helps to hide the entrance for privacy and security reasons.
