About Bekbol Sagyn
Early Life and Education
Bekbol Sagyn was born in 1972 in Aktobe, a city in Kazakhstan. He studied at several universities, including the Kazakh Humanitarian Law University and the Kazakh Engineering and Technical Academy. He earned a degree in economic sciences.
Starting His Career
Sagyn started working in 1993 in finance. From 1998 to 2003, he worked in tax departments in the Aktobe region. He also helped lead the education department for the Aktobe region from 2003 to 2004. Later, he became the deputy akim, which is like a deputy mayor, of the Aktobe region for a few months in 2004.
Becoming Akim of Aktobe
In October 2015, Bekbol Sagyn was chosen to be the Akim of Aktobe. An Akim is like a mayor or head of a region in Kazakhstan. In Kazakhstan, akims are not voted for by the public. Instead, they are appointed, or chosen, by the regional governor. The governor of the Aktobe Region, Berdibek Saparbayev, appointed Sagyn to this important role. Sagyn served as Akim until July 2016.
Public Speaking and Projects
Sagyn has spoken at public events, sharing his ideas for the future of the region. He once spoke at the Eurasian National University, where he talked about plans for the year 2020. He also listened to people's questions, especially those from older citizens. In 2015, Sagyn helped support the building of a very large ice rink in Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan.
