Belle Creek (sometimes called Bell Creek) is a small place in southeastern Powder River County, Montana, United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
Belle Creek is located along local roads. It lies southeast of Broadus, which is the main town and county seat for Powder River County. The county seat is where the county's government offices are located.
How Belle Creek Started
Belle Creek was founded in 1968. It was started by an oil and gas developer named Sam Gary. He helped create the community because the Bell Creek oil field was growing very fast.
The oil field brought many workers to the area. They needed places to live and services. So, Belle Creek grew to support the people working in the oil industry nearby.
Weather in Belle Creek
Belle Creek has a type of weather called a semi-arid climate. This means it's usually quite dry. It gets more rain than a desert, but not enough to be considered a humid place.
Climate scientists use a system called the Köppen Climate Classification to describe different climates around the world. In this system, Belle Creek's climate is often shown as "BSk" on maps.
