The Village of Belmonte

The main village of Belmonte has about 416 residents. It sits about 200 meters (656 feet) above sea level. The village is built on both sides of the Pigüeña River. It's about 56 kilometers (35 miles) from the city of Oviedo. You can reach Belmonte using highway AS-227.

One of the most famous things to do in Belmonte village is trout fishing. The river here is known for its "catch-and-release" fishing, which means you can enjoy the sport and then let the fish go.
