Ben Brode is a well-known American video game designer. He was the main person in charge and the public face of the popular digital card game Hearthstone. In 2018, he left to start his own game company, Second Dinner. There, he is now the Chief Development Officer, helping to create new games.

Ben Brode's Journey in Gaming
Ben Brode started his career in video games at a young age. He joined Blizzard Entertainment when he was 20 years old. His first job was testing games like Warcraft III and World of Warcraft.
From Tester to Designer
While testing games, Ben also enjoyed making his own custom maps for Warcraft III. One of his maps was even chosen as 'Map of the Week'! This showed his talent for game creation. He then looked for a design role at Blizzard. He found a creative position working on the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game. This was a card game based on the popular World of Warcraft universe.
Leading the Way for Hearthstone
In 2015, Ben Brode became the lead designer for Hearthstone. Later that year, he was promoted to game director. As game director, he was the main person who talked to the players. He gave interviews, answered questions, and explained new ideas for the game. He even recorded a song for the Journey To Un'Goro expansion when fans asked for one!
Starting a New Game Studio
After working at Blizzard for 15 years, Ben Brode decided to start his own company. In 2018, he left Blizzard and created Second Dinner. He teamed up with other former Blizzard employees.
Creating Marvel Snap
In 2019, Second Dinner received a big investment from a company called NetEase. This helped them get the rights to create a mobile game for Marvel. The game, called Marvel Snap, was first shown in May 2022. It is available on mobile phones and computers. Ben Brode said that his experience with the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game and Hearthstone helped him design Marvel Snap. He wanted to make a card game that was fast to play and easy for new players to learn.
