Bernadette Renaud was born on April 18, 1945, in Ascot Corner, Québec. She is a Canadian writer who lives in the Montérégie region of Quebec. She is well-known for her books for young readers and her work in television.

About Bernadette Renaud

Bernadette Renaud started her career working in a school library. Later, she became a primary school teacher. Eventually, she decided to become a full-time writer.

Her first book, Émilie la baignoire à pattes, came out in 1976. This book was very successful! It won the Canada Council Children's Literature Prize. It also received the Prix Alvine-Bélisle [fr], another important award for children's books.

Books and Films

In 1986, Bernadette Renaud wrote a book called Bach et bottine. This book was so popular that it was made into a movie with the same name. The English version of the movie is called Bach and Broccoli.

The film Bach et bottine won many awards, eighteen in total, from different countries. It even received a special award from UNESCO for the International Year of the Family. Bernadette Renaud also wrote the songs for a record album based on Bach et Bottine. This album won an award for Best Children's LP from ADISQ.

Bernadette Renaud has won the Grand prix littéraire de la Montérégie [fr] multiple times for her writing. Some of her books have been translated into English. They have also been made available in Braille, so people who are blind can read them.
