Playing for Clubs: A Football Journey
Bernardo was born in Tandil, Argentina. He started his professional football journey in 1995 with Estudiantes de La Plata. He played 40 matches in Argentina's top league for them.
Becoming a Star at San Lorenzo
Bernardo truly became a top player with San Lorenzo de Almagro. In 2001, he scored an amazing 15 goals in just 17 matches during the Clausura tournament. This helped his team win the league championship!
Playing in Germany and Spain
Bernardo's great performances caught the attention of a German club, Hamburger SV. He continued to score many goals there for two and a half seasons. In January 2005, he moved to Spain on loan to RCD Mallorca for six months. After that, he left Hamburger SV.
In July 2005, Bernardo signed with another Spanish team, CA Osasuna. He scored four goals in 24 matches, helping his team finish fourth in the league. This was their best finish ever! The next season, he played in the UEFA Cup and even scored a goal against Odense Boldklub. His team reached the semi-finals of that competition.
Returning Home to Argentina
In the summer of 2007, Bernardo Romeo returned to Argentina and rejoined San Lorenzo de Almagro. During his time with San Lorenzo (combining both periods), he scored over 100 official goals! He left San Lorenzo in July 2010 and then signed with Quilmes Atlético Club.
Playing for His Country: Argentina
Bernardo was a very important player for the Argentina Under-20 team. He helped them win the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship in Malaysia, scoring six goals in seven games. He also played four matches for the main senior team over three years.
