Bernice L. McFadden (born September 26, 1965) is an American writer. She is famous for her many novels. She has also written funny stories using the pen name Geneva Holliday. Bernice McFadden has written fifteen novels. She also teaches creative writing at Tulane University in New Orleans.

Bernice L. McFadden grew up in Brooklyn, New York.

She has received special invitations to write in different places. In 2005, she was a MacDowell Colony Fellow in New Hampshire. In 2011, she visited Egypt for an El Gouna Writers’ Residency. She was also an Artist-in-Residence in Georgia in 2013.

In 2016, Bernice McFadden earned a special degree called an MFA from The Writer's Foundry. This was at St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn, New York.

In 2022, Bernice McFadden created a new word: "Angelcestor." This word means "a divine ancestor who serves as a guide and protector of the living."
