Betanzos is a town located in Bolivia, a country in South America. It's found in the Potosí Department, which is like a large region or state. This town is important because it serves as the main center for several smaller areas around it. These include the Betanzos Canton, the Betanzos Municipality, and the Cornelio Saavedra Province.
Where is Betanzos?
Betanzos is in the southwestern part of Bolivia. It sits high up in the mountains, about 3,327 meters (10,915 feet) above sea level. This high elevation means the town has a unique climate. In 2012, about 4,632 people lived in Betanzos.
Climate
The climate in Betanzos can vary quite a bit, especially between day and night, and between seasons. The town is located in an area called Chinoli, which is at an elevation of 3,450 meters (11,319 feet).
- Temperatures: During the day, temperatures are usually mild, often around 19-21 degrees Celsius (66-70 degrees Fahrenheit). Nights can get much colder, especially in the winter months (May to August in the Southern Hemisphere). Record low temperatures can even drop below freezing, sometimes to -14.2 degrees Celsius (6.4 degrees Fahrenheit) in June.
- Rainfall: Betanzos experiences a wet season and a dry season. Most of the rain falls from December to March, with January being the wettest month. The dry season is from May to August, when there is very little rain.
- Humidity: The air is generally quite humid throughout the year, often above 80%.
