Betty Caywood Bushman was born in Chicago. She became famous for her work in sports radio. In September 1964, she joined the radio team for the Kansas City Athletics baseball team. Her job was to add "color commentary" to the game. This means she shared interesting facts and insights that made the broadcast more exciting for fans.

Years later, Betty returned to the baseball broadcast booth. On August 16, 2008, she joined the WHB radio broadcast for the Kansas City T-Bones. This was an independent baseball team. She continued to share her love of baseball with listeners.

Betty Caywood Bushman passed away on September 3, 2020, at the age of 89. She is remembered as a trailblazer who opened doors for women in sports broadcasting.
