Betty Spindler was born in Long Beach, California in 1943. When she was a child, she faced challenges with learning. Later, she found out she had dyslexia, which is a learning difference that can make reading and writing tricky.
Betty started her art journey by taking classes at Sherman E. Burroughs High School. After high school, she got married and started a family before going to college.
Education Journey
Betty decided to go back to school in 1979 to study art formally. She took classes at Cerro Coso Community College, where she started to focus on working with ceramics. Ceramics is the art of making things from clay.
She earned her Associate of Arts degree in 1986. Then, she went to the University of California, Santa Cruz. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990, when she was 47 years old. This shows it's never too late to follow your dreams!
