Ethel Elizabeth Timms, known as Betty Timms (born June 10, 1886 – died February 3, 1980), was an English writer. She became famous for her children's story, The Little Grey Men of the Moor, published in 1926. Her success with this book encouraged her older sister, Flora Thompson, who wrote the famous book Lark Rise to Candleford, to keep writing too.

About Betty Timms

Betty Timms was born in Juniper Hill, a small village in Oxfordshire, England. Her father, Albert Timms, was a stonemason. Her mother, Emma Timms, worked as a nursemaid. When Betty was four years old, her family moved to a place called Cottisford.

Betty wrote a children's story called The Little Grey Men of the Moor. It was published in 1926 by George G. Harrap and Co.. This book was part of a popular series called "Little Story Books." Nora Fry drew the pictures for the book.

Around the same time her sister Flora Thompson wrote Lark Rise to Candleford, Betty Timms also wrote about her own childhood. However, her memories were not published while she was alive. In 2012, her typed story was finally published as More Tales from Lark Rise.
