How Biggers Began
People started to settle in Biggers around the early 1890s. This happened after the Biggers-Allen Mill was built in the late 1880s. A mill is a building where grain is ground into flour.
Life in the Community
By 1899, Biggers had a general store. It also had its own post office. A man named Wade Biggers was the postmaster. The postmaster was in charge of the post office.
Why Biggers Became a Ghost Town
The community of Biggers never grew very large. Its population never went above twenty-five people. The post office closed down in 1903. The small community continued to exist for a while. However, by the early 1950s, Biggers was no longer an active settlement. It became a ghost town.
