This episode explores themes of gratitude, family, and unexpected friendships. It shows how a simple act of kindness can lead to big misunderstandings.
Mr. Burns Gets Sick

Bart's Special Blood
It turns out that Bart Simpson has the exact rare blood type that Mr. Burns needs. Homer Simpson sees this as a chance for his family to become rich. He convinces Bart to donate his blood to Mr. Burns. Homer promises Bart that Mr. Burns will give them a huge reward for saving his life. Bart agrees, hoping for something amazing.
The Disappointing Reward
Bart bravely donates his blood, and Mr. Burns recovers. The Simpsons family waits eagerly for their promised reward. However, instead of a big gift or a lot of money, Mr. Burns only sends them a small, simple thank-you card. Homer is furious. He feels that Mr. Burns has cheated them.
Homer's Angry Letter
Feeling insulted, Homer decides to write a very angry letter to Mr. Burns. He uses strong words to express his disappointment and anger. Marge Simpson, who is often the voice of reason, tries to stop Homer from sending the letter. She knows it could cause big trouble for the family.
Bart Mails the Letter

The "Blood Feud" Begins
Mr. Burns decides to get back at Homer. He starts making Homer's life at the power plant very difficult. This creates a "blood feud" between Homer and Mr. Burns. A "blood feud" is a long-lasting argument or rivalry, often between families. In this case, it's a funny and exaggerated conflict.
How the Feud Ends
The feud continues until Mr. Burns's assistant, Waylon Smithers, steps in. Smithers helps Mr. Burns understand that Homer's anger came from feeling unappreciated. Mr. Burns eventually sends the Simpsons a much better gift: a giant Olmec head statue. This strange gift finally makes Homer happy, and the feud ends.
