What is Blood Red Horse About?
Blood Red Horse tells the story of two young people, Will and Ellie. They live during the time of the Crusades, which were big religious wars long ago. Ellie has strong feelings for Will. However, she has been promised to marry Will's brother, Gavin.
The Journey to War
King Richard announces that he will start a new Crusade. Both Will and Gavin are sent off to join the fight. Will chooses a small, skinny horse named Hosanna to ride into battle. He feels a special connection to this horse.
Gavin, Will's brother, does not want Will to survive the war. He hopes Will will not return home. This creates a lot of tension and danger for Will as he faces the challenges of war.
