Frank Adams (born June 12, 1935 – died August 11, 2019) was a famous Australian rules football player. Most people knew him as Bluey Adams. He played for the Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Bluey was known for his amazing speed and skill on the field.

Bluey Adams was a key player for the Melbourne Football Club. He played during their "golden years" from 1955 to 1964. This was a time when the club won many championships. Bluey was very lucky to be part of six VFL premiership teams. These are like winning the grand final in football.

His Role on the Field

Bluey often played in the forward pocket. From there, he was a great goal-kicker. He also played as a rover or a wing-man. His incredible speed helped him a lot. He could use the open spaces of the Melbourne Cricket Ground to his advantage.

Bluey Adams wasn't just a football star. He was also a national champion professional sprinter! He won many important races.

Sprinting Achievements

In 1957, Bluey won two races in Cobram. A week later, he won the Lilydale Gift. He also came second in the Bendigo Thousand race. In 1958, he won the Ararat Gift. He also won the South Melbourne and Canberra Gifts that year. In November 1958, he ran a super fast time for 400 yards. He even won the Australian sprint title in 1959. Bluey stopped running professionally at age 25.

His Final Years

Bluey Adams passed away on August 11, 2019. He was 84 years old. He died from cancer.
