Bobby Walker's Wrestling Journey
Starting Out (1989–1992)
Bobby Walker began his professional wrestling career in 1989. He wrestled under the name Hurricane Walker. In 1990, he tried to win the NWA Florida Tag Team Championship. He teamed up with Brian Knobbs but they didn't win the title. Later, he teamed with Joe Gomez for another try, but they were also unsuccessful.
However, he and Tim Parker did win the championship belts later in 1990. They defeated Sgt. Rock and Mark Starr. But they soon lost the title to Sgt. Rock and Ron Slinker.
Walker also made short appearances in other wrestling companies. These included Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). In 1991, he was ranked among the top 500 wrestlers in the world by Pro Wrestling Illustrated magazine. He later trained at the WCW Power Plant. This was a special training school run by WCW.
Time in World Championship Wrestling (1992–2000)
Bobby Walker joined World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1992. He first used the name Robbie Walker. He was supposed to team up with Ron Simmons at a big event called Clash of the Champions XXI. However, he got hurt and couldn't wrestle.
After almost a year of recovering, he returned to WCW. He started using the name Bobby Walker. He appeared in a televised match in January 1994. He teamed with Jason Johnson but they lost to Harlem Heat.
Starting in 1995, he became known as "'Hardwork' Bobby Walker". He was managed by Teddy Long. Bobby Walker often wrestled against bigger stars. He helped make them look strong by losing to them. But he also won some matches against newer wrestlers. He wrestled in his only pay-per-view match at World War 3 in 1995. This was a huge battle royal with sixty wrestlers.
In 1996, Bobby Walker was chosen to team with The Barbarian. This was for an event called Slamboree. But he got injured by Lex Luger and couldn't compete. He was replaced by Diamond Dallas Page. Walker later defeated Billy Kidman in a special match that wasn't shown on TV. He stayed with WCW until February 2000.
About Bobby Walker's Life
Bobby Walker is the nephew of another famous professional wrestler, Thunderbolt Patterson.
In 2000, Bobby Walker and some other wrestlers had concerns about how they were treated in WCW. They felt there were differences in how wrestlers were treated and paid based on their backgrounds. They also felt that their characters were sometimes shown in ways they didn't like. They decided to take legal action to address these issues. A judge allowed the case to move forward. Later, the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) bought WCW. The lawsuit was eventually settled outside of court.
