Starting Night Slugs
Bok Bok started a record label in London called Night Slugs. It grew from a club night he began with his friend James Connolly, also known as L-Vis 1990. They first met online on MySpace!
Bok Bok loved music with big sound systems. He got really interested in music after hearing a mix by DJ Slimzee in 2003. As the grime music scene changed, he started exploring other exciting music styles. He found inspiration from upbeat sounds like Baltimore breaks, Detroit ghetto-tech, and footwork music from Chicago. He also liked South African 'arch riddim' music.
Early Music and Tours
Bok Bok's first music collection, called Southside, had strong bass and bright sounds. In 2015, he worked with keyboard player Sweyn Jupiter on a song called 'Papaya Lipgloss'. This song was a cool club mix with fun electronic sounds. Bok Bok also traveled a lot, going on tours across Asia in 2015 and then to America, Europe, Asia, and Australia in 2016.
