Bonnie Averbach (1933 – October 16, 2019) was an American teacher and author. She taught mathematics and a special kind of math called actuarial science at Temple University for many years. She was also well-known for the math books she wrote.

Her Life and Work

Bonnie Averbach was born in 1933. She loved math and studied it at Temple University. In 1955, she earned an advanced degree in mathematics from the university.

Around 1965, she returned to Temple University, but this time as a teacher. She taught in the math department for many years. Later, in 1987, she started teaching in a different department. This new department focused on risk management and insurance. Here, she led the university's program for actuarial science. This is a field that uses math to study risk, especially in insurance and finance.

In 2007, Temple University gave her a special award. It was a lifetime achievement award from their business school. This award recognized her long and important career at the university. Bonnie Averbach passed away on October 16, 2019.
