Boomerang (Six Flags St. Louis) facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Boomerang is a thrilling roller coaster located at Six Flags St. Louis in Eureka, Missouri. It's known for its unique design that sends riders both forwards and backwards through exciting loops and twists. This type of roller coaster is a popular model found in many amusement parks around the world, offering a memorable ride experience.

What is a Boomerang Coaster?

A Boomerang roller coaster is a special type of ride designed by a company called Vekoma. It's called a "shuttle coaster" because it doesn't complete a full circuit. Instead, it goes back and forth along the same track. The track layout is very distinct, featuring two tall towers and a series of inversions in the middle.

How Does the Ride Work?

The adventure begins when riders are slowly pulled backwards up a steep hill. Once they reach the top, they are released and zoom down the hill at high speed. The train then rushes through the station and into the first inversion, which is a giant loop. After the loop, riders immediately enter a "cobra roll," a twisting element that flips them upside down twice.

After completing these inversions, the train climbs a second tall hill. It doesn't go over the top, though! Instead, it's pulled up this hill until it stops. Then, the train is released again, but this time it travels backwards! Riders experience the cobra roll and the loop all over again, but in reverse. Finally, the train slows down as it returns to the station.

Is it Safe?

Like all roller coasters, Boomerang is designed with many safety features. Riders are secured with special restraints to keep them safe during the ride. Park staff check these restraints carefully before each ride begins. Engineers regularly inspect the track and trains to make sure everything is working perfectly. This ensures that riders can enjoy the fun and excitement safely.
