Edward McClain (born March 7, 1899 – died August 24, 1985) was a talented baseball player. People knew him by his nickname, "Boots". He played as an infielder in the Negro leagues during the 1920s.
Boots McClain was born in Louisville, Kentucky. He started his professional baseball career in 1920. His first teams were the Dayton Marcos and the Indianapolis ABCs.
Playing in the Negro Leagues
The Negro leagues were professional baseball leagues. They were for African American players. This was a time when Black players were not allowed to play in Major League Baseball. Many amazing players like Boots McClain played in these leagues.
