Discovering Bradbury Mountain State Park

Bradbury Mountain State Park is a popular spot for outdoor activities in Maine. It's known for its beautiful views and many trails. The park is a great place to visit any time of the year.

How the Park Started

Bradbury Mountain State Park was created a long time ago, in the 1940s. It was one of the first five state parks in Maine. The land for the park was given by the U.S. government in 1939. Later, in the 1990s and 2000s, the park grew bigger. More land, called the Knight Woods parcels, was added across Maine Route 9.

Exploring the Mountain's Nature

The park is named after Bradbury Mountain itself. This mountain is not super tall, less than 500 feet high. But don't let its size fool you! From the top, you can see amazing views all around. This makes it one of the most loved parks in Maine. The mountain is made of strong rocks like granite and pegmatite. You can even see these rocks at the very top.

Fun Things to Do at the Park

Bradbury Mountain State Park has many trails for different activities. You can go hiking on these trails. In the winter, you can even go snowmobiling. If you like horses, you can also go horseback riding. Most of the trails are open for mountain biking, too. Hiking is popular all year long, even when it's snowy in winter.
