Brandon Gonzáles's Boxing Journey

Starting as an Amateur

Brandon started boxing when he was 19 years old. He quickly became part of the U.S. National Team. As an amateur, he had a great record of 56 wins and only 7 losses. In 2004, he won the important Golden Gloves competition. The next year, he was a finalist at the 2005 U.S. National Championships. He was even ranked as America's number one light heavyweight amateur boxer.

Brandon was expected to join the U.S. Olympic Team in 2004. However, he decided to start his professional boxing career instead in 2007. While he was boxing as an amateur, he also worked as a janitor at Arco Arena.

Becoming a Professional Boxer

Brandon's professional boxing career began in 2007. On January 29, 2010, he won a fight against Dumont Welliver by T.K.O. (Technical Knockout). This means the referee stopped the fight because one boxer couldn't continue safely. This fight was part of ESPN's "Friday Night Fights" event.

Brandon kept winning and had an amazing streak of 17 wins without any losses. This streak continued until his fight with Thomas Oosthuizen. That match ended in a draw, meaning neither boxer won.

On October 28, 2011, Brandon won a big fight against Ossie Duran. This was the main event on Showtime's ShoBox series, held in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

In 2014, Brandon signed a deal with Gary Shaw Productions, a company that promotes boxers. He then faced his first loss to James DeGale on May 31, 2014. This fight took place at Wembley Stadium in London. It was an IBF (International Boxing Federation) final eliminator match. This means the winner would get a chance to fight for a championship title.

This fight against James DeGale was Brandon Gonzáles's last professional match. After his boxing career, he started running a boxing and fitness gym in California.
