Branislava Peruničić-Draženović was a brilliant scientist and engineer. She was born on July 10, 1936, and passed away on March 17, 2025. She became a top professor of Control Engineering at the University of Sarajevo. In 1986, she was chosen to be part of the important Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This shows how much her work was respected.

Becoming an Engineer: Her Early Life and Studies

Branislava Peruničić-Draženović started her journey in engineering at the University of Belgrade. She worked very hard and earned her first degree in 1960. Later, in 1966, she completed her master's degree. During these years, she also taught students in the Electrical Engineering department.

After her studies in Belgrade, she moved to the University of Sarajevo to get her doctorate degree. She finished this advanced study in 1971. While working on her doctorate, she also gained experience at the Institute of Control Problems in Moscow. Right after finishing her studies, she became an assistant professor at the University of Sarajevo.

Her Amazing Career and Discoveries

Before becoming a full professor, Branislava Peruničić-Draženović was a Project Leader at a company called Energoinvest until 1970. Her career at the University of Sarajevo grew quickly. She became a full Professor there in 1976.

In 1981, she was chosen as a Fulbright visiting scholar. This allowed her to visit and teach at other famous universities. She worked at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and Texas A&M University. Her research focused on special ways to control systems, like variable structure control and sliding mode control. These methods help make machines and systems work smoothly and correctly.

In 1993, Professor Peruničić-Draženović joined Lamar University in the United States. She continued her work as a Professor in their College of Engineering.

Her leadership skills were also recognized. In 2009, she was elected as the vice president of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She also helped guide the University of Sarajevo by serving on its Council for Science and Arts. Branislava Peruničić-Draženović was a dedicated and influential scientist throughout her life.
