Benny Coulter's Amazing Playing Career
Benny Coulter was known as one of the best attackers in Gaelic football. He holds the record for scoring the most goals in the Ulster Senior Football Championship.
In 1999, Benny won an Ulster Minor Football Championship medal. Later that year, he helped Down win the All-Ireland Minor Football Championship. He scored 1 goal and 2 points in the final game. Even though he was young, the Down manager, Pete McGrath, chose Benny to play for the senior team that year.
Benny quickly became one of Down's most important players. He even captained the team. Many people called him the team's 'talisman', meaning he was their key player.
Playing for Ireland
Benny was chosen to play for Ireland five times. This was for the International Rules Series in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2010. He also won the Railway Cup four times. He won many championships with his club Mayobridge. These included Under-12, Under-14, Under-16, Minor, and Reserve League and Championship titles. He also won an All-Ireland Under-16 Football Championship with St Marks Warrenpoint.
Benny has won 8 county championships with his club Mayobridge. He is seen as one of the most famous players from the Mourne county. Sometimes, opponents would try to bother him with talk during games, which is called 'sledging'. Benny supports Liverpool F.C., a famous football team.

Benny was a player and manager for Mayobridge GAA in 2017 and 2018. He worked alongside Francie Poland. Now, he manages Longstone GAA. One of his most talked-about goals was against Kildare. The Kildare players thought it was a 'square ball', which means it shouldn't have counted. This goal stopped Kildare from reaching the All-Ireland Final.
