Brendan DuBois grew up in Dover, New Hampshire. He went to St. Thomas Aquinas High School there. Later, he graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1982. As of 2015, he was married. He lives in Exeter, New Hampshire.

Brendan DuBois has won several awards for his writing. He won the Shamus Award twice. This award is for the best short mystery story. He won it in 1995 and again in 2001.
