The heath is also part of the Thursley, Ash, Pirbright & Chobham Special Area of Conservation (SAC). This is a European-level protection for important habitats. Finally, it is part of the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area (SPA). This protects important bird species and their habitats.
