Brian Bowen II, born on October 2, 1998, is a professional basketball player from the United States. He plays for the Stockton Kings in the NBA G League. Brian is also known by his nickname, "Tugs".
Before becoming a professional, Brian was a top high school player. In 2017, he was named a McDonald's All-American. This is a special honor for the best high school basketball players in the country. He first planned to play college basketball for the Louisville Cardinals. However, he faced some challenges related to college rules. He later tried to play for the South Carolina Gamecocks. But due to rules from the NCAA (the organization that sets rules for college sports), he decided to leave college. He then chose to enter the 2018 NBA Draft.

Playing Basketball in High School
Brian started his high school basketball journey at Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw, Michigan. In 2015, he moved to La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana.
During his senior year at La Lumiere, Brian was a star player. He scored an average of 22 points in each game. He also helped his team win a national championship. This was at the Dick's Sporting Goods high school tournament.
Brian also played in two important high school all-star games. In the 2017 McDonald's All-American Boys Game, he scored three points. In the 2017 Jordan Brand Classic, he scored a game-high 26 points. He made 6 out of 7 shots from beyond the three-point line. Because of his great performance, he was named co-MVP of the game.
Choosing a College Team
Brian Bowen was one of the most sought-after players in his high school class. On June 3, 2017, he announced his decision to join Louisville. He had many other offers from big schools. These included Michigan State, Arizona, and UCLA.
Later in 2017, there were some issues regarding college basketball recruiting. These issues involved alleged payments to families of student-athletes. Brian was linked to these issues, though he was not accused of wrongdoing himself. Because of this, Louisville suspended him from team activities. He still kept his scholarship and continued to be a student.
In January 2018, Brian enrolled at the University of South Carolina. He planned to join their basketball team. However, the NCAA ruled that he would have to sit out for a long time. This was due to the previous issues and his transfer.
Because of these challenges, Brian decided to enter the 2018 NBA draft. He later withdrew from the draft. This allowed him to play professionally either in the NBA G League or overseas.
Professional Basketball Career
Brian decided to become a professional basketball player instead of returning to college.

This type of contract allows a player to play for both an NBA team and its G League team. Brian also played for the Pacers' G League team, the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
While playing in the G League, Brian averaged 16.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. The Indiana Pacers re-signed him to another two-way contract in November 2020. However, the Pacers waived him on April 23, 2021.
