Brian also played in the 2017 Jordan Brand Classic. He scored 26 points, which was the most in that game. He made 6 out of 7 shots from the three-point line. Because of his great performance, he was named a co-MVP of the game.
College Plans and Challenges
Brian Bowen II was one of the most sought-after high school players in 2017. Many top colleges wanted him to join their basketball teams. On June 3, 2017, he announced he would go to Louisville. Other famous schools like Michigan State and Arizona also offered him a spot.
However, things became complicated in September 2017. An investigation began into college basketball recruiting. This investigation involved many schools and players. Brian was linked to this situation, even though he was not accused of doing anything wrong.
Because of this, Louisville suspended him from team activities. He was still a student and kept his scholarship. Later, Louisville announced he would not play or practice for their team.
In January 2018, Brian enrolled at the University of South Carolina. He hoped to join their basketball program. However, the NCAA (the main college sports organization) had rules about transfers. They also looked into the earlier issues.
In April 2018, Brian decided to enter the 2018 NBA draft. He hoped to play professionally. The NCAA told him he would have to wait a long time to play college basketball. So, he chose to skip college and focus on a professional career. He later withdrew from the 2018 NBA Draft to explore other professional options.
