The Church's Story
Building a New Church
The Broadford Parish Church was built a long time ago, between the years 1839 and 1841. Before this church, there was an even older one from the 1500s called Cill Chriosd. The new Broadford church was built to take its place.
What the Church Looks Like
The church has a unique design. You'll notice its windows are rounded at the top. It also has a special bell tower, called a bellcote, with a triangular top. The main entrance has a flat, old-fashioned style door, known as a Tudor doorpiece.
Updates Over Time
Like many old buildings, Broadford Parish Church has been looked after and updated over the years. In 1884, some repairs were made to keep it in good condition. Later, in the 1930s, the inside of the church was changed to make it more modern and comfortable for people attending services.
