Where is Brownfields?

Brownfields is located in the northern part of East Baton Rouge Parish. To its north is the city of Baker. To the east, you'll find Central. To the southwest, it borders the big city of Baton Rouge.

Brownfields is about 10 miles (16 kilometers) northeast of downtown Baton Rouge. The Comite River forms the eastern border with Central. This river flows south and eventually joins the Amite River.

The total area of Brownfields is about 4.15 square miles (10.7 square kilometers). Only a tiny part of this area, about 0.01 square miles (0.02 square kilometers), is water.

How the Schools Changed

Before 2007, all students in Brownfields went to schools in the East Baton Rouge Parish system. That year, the Central schools separated and formed their own school district.

Before this change, Brownfields Elementary and Sharon Hills Elementary served the community. Students went to Central Middle or Crestworth Middle. For high school, they attended Central High, Northeast High, or Scotlandville High.
