Browns, Ohio facts for kids
Browns is a small place in Preble County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or a village. Instead, it's managed by the larger county government.
History
Browns was once known as Brown's Station. This community was never officially "platted." To "plat" a town means to draw up a map that shows all the streets, lots, and public areas. Even without a formal map, a post office was opened in Brown's Station in 1869. This post office helped people send and receive mail. It stayed open for five years before closing in 1874.
