Bruce Weigert Paltrow (born November 26, 1943 – died October 3, 2002) was an American director and producer for television and movies. He was married to actress Blythe Danner. He was also the father of famous actress Gwyneth Paltrow and screenwriter/director Jake Paltrow.
About Bruce Paltrow's Life
Bruce Paltrow was born in Brooklyn, New York. His parents were Dorothy and Arnold Paltrow. He also had a brother named Robert. His family came from Eastern Europe.
Bruce studied painting at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. In the late 1960s, he started directing plays in New York City. There, he met actress Blythe Danner. They got married on December 14, 1969, and stayed together until he passed away.

His Passing and What Came After
Bruce Paltrow passed away on October 3, 2002, when he was 58 years old. He was on vacation in Rome, Italy, celebrating his daughter Gwyneth's 30th birthday. He had been battling oral cancer since 1999. His death was caused by problems from his cancer and pneumonia.
In 2007, his wife, Blythe Danner, worked with The Oral Cancer Foundation. They started a special fund in Bruce's name. This fund helps with issues related to oral cancer in the United States. It works to make people more aware, help with early detection, support patients, and fund research.
A few weeks after Bruce passed away in 2002, his daughter Gwyneth met Chris Martin, the singer from the band Coldplay. They got married in 2003. Coldplay's 2005 album X&Y was dedicated to Bruce Paltrow. The song "Fix You" from that album was written to help Gwyneth cope with her sadness after losing her father.
