Bryan Ellis Burwell (born August 4, 1955 – died December 4, 2014) was a talented American sportswriter and author. He loved sports and spent his career writing and talking about them.

Bryan joined the St. Louis Post Dispatch newspaper in 2002. Before that, he worked as a sports reporter for HBO's Inside the NFL. He also had a voice for radio! Bryan was a co-host on CBS Sports 920 in St. Louis, Missouri. He also worked at 101 ESPN Radio in St. Louis. You might have even seen him on TV. Bryan was featured on two ESPN shows: Jim Rome is Burning and The Sports Reporters.

Bryan also helped create a special documentary about baseball's Negro leagues. It was called The Color of Change. In this film, he shared the challenges faced by the baseball league. This league was created because of racism. He also talked about how it eventually ended. The documentary included interviews with famous people like Buck O'Neil, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, and Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith.

Bryan Burwell passed away at age 59 on December 4, 2014. He was from Washington state. He graduated from Virginia State University in 1977. Bryan left behind his wife, Dawnn, and his daughter, Victoria.

  • In 2007, the Associated Press Sports Editors named Bryan one of the Top 10 sports columnists. This means he was one of the best sports writers in the country!
