The Number Yum Taste in bubble gum

Bubble Yum is a popular brand of bubble gum. It is made by The Hershey Company. This gum was first introduced in 1975. It was special because it was the first bubble gum that was really soft and easy to chew.

History of Bubble Yum

How Bubble Yum Started

Bubble Yum was invented by a homemaker in Fisk, Missouri. She called her new gum "rubber bubblegum." She even gave some to her son to share with his friends at school. Soon, she sold her special recipe to the Life Savers candy company in St. Louis.

The Spider Egg Rumor

In 1977, a strange rumor started spreading. People began to say that the gum's soft texture came from adding spider eggs! This was not true, but it made many people worried. The Life Savers Company quickly acted to stop the rumor. They printed a full-page message in big newspapers, like The New York Times. This message explained that the rumor was false and helped people trust the gum again. After this, Bubble Yum became super popular. It even sold more than Life Savers candy!

Who Owns Bubble Yum?

Over the years, Bubble Yum has had a few different owners. First, Life Savers owned it. Then, in 1981, a company called Nabisco bought Life Savers. Finally, in the year 2000, The Hershey Company bought the Bubble Yum brand.

Mascot

Bubble Yum's official mascot is Floyd D. Duck. He is a duck character that looks like he is dressed in punk-style clothes.
