The Buckley Aircraft Company was an American company that built airplanes. It was located in Wichita, Kansas.
The company started in 1929. It was founded by Fred Buckley, William J. Carr, Earl Jones, A.J Christman, Joseph Paul, and William Bushnell Stout. They began with $150,000 to get the business going.
Their first airplane was called the Buckley F-1. This was a low-wing monoplane, meaning it had one main wing set low on its body. However, this design was not considered very good, so they stopped developing it.
Next, they created the LC-4. This was a more modern airplane, made entirely of aluminum. It was designed to carry four people. The company received many orders for 200 of these planes. They were planned for use in air taxi services.
However, the company faced a big challenge. This was during a difficult economic time known as the Great Depression. Many businesses struggled to find enough money to operate. Because of these financial difficulties, the Buckley Aircraft Company had to close down in 1931.
