Buena Fe is a vibrant city located in the Los Ríos Province of Ecuador. It is known for its rich agricultural lands and friendly community. The city is also the capital of the Buena Fe Canton.
History of Buena Fe
The story of Buena Fe began in 1943. Early settlers arrived and started building a community. One important person was Medardo Rosa Espinoza Cabezas Figueroa Carrillo. He rented a small area that is now called Las Vegas.
Here, they opened a shop and named it "Buena Fe," which means "Good Faith." This name soon became popular for the whole area. More and more people built their homes nearby, and a small village slowly grew.
Buena Fe grew quite a bit over the years. On October 11, 1979, it officially became a rural parish (a type of local district) of Quevedo Canton.
Later, in 1992, a group led by Gilberto Salinas worked hard to make Buena Fe its own canton. Their efforts were successful! President Rodrigo Borja Cevallos signed the decree, and Buena Fe became a canton on August 7, 1992.
Geography and Economy
Buena Fe is located in a very fertile and rich area. This means the land is great for farming. The region has seen a big boost in its farming and food processing industries.
Farmers in Buena Fe produce many important crops. These include beef, cocoa, coffee, and oil palm. They also grow a wide variety of fruits. This strong agricultural base helps the local economy thrive.
City and Canton Structure
Buena Fe is both a city and the center of the Buena Fe Canton. The city itself is also known as San Jacinto de Buena Fe, which is an urban parish.
The canton of Buena Fe includes several rural districts and sections. These areas help make up the larger canton. Some of these sections are Patricia Pilar, San Francisco, Cuatro Mangas, La Reserva, Fumisa, 24 de Mayo, Glance, La Catorce, Pechiche, Los Angeles, and Zulema.
