Butlers Chocolates is a famous Irish company that makes delicious, fancy chocolates. They are based in North Dublin, Ireland. The company started way back in 1932. Today, Butlers makes many different sweet treats. These include chocolate bars, creamy truffles, soft fudge, chewy toffee, and special chocolate eggs for holidays. They also have their own chain of cozy Butlers Chocolate Cafés.
How Butlers Chocolates Started
Butlers Chocolates was founded in 1932. A lady named Marion Bailey-Butler started the company. She made all the chocolates by hand. Her first shop was on Lad Lane in Dublin, Ireland.
In 1959, a man named Seamus Sorensen bought the company. Later, in 1984, the name "Butlers Irish Chocolates" was created. This name was chosen to honor the original founder, Marion Bailey-Butler.
Growing Bigger
Butlers Chocolates opened its very first shop in 1989. This shop was on Grafton Street in Dublin City Centre. Since then, many more shops have opened across Ireland. Butlers also has two franchise shops in New Zealand.
Butlers Chocolate Cafés
The first Butlers Chocolate Café opened in Dublin in 1998. It was on Wicklow Street. These cafés are special places where you can enjoy hot drinks and Butlers chocolates.
Since then, Butlers has opened many more cafés. You can find them in different cities across Ireland. These include Cork, Galway, Limerick, and Naas. They are also in Kildare and Bray.
Butlers Chocolate Cafés have also opened in other countries. You can find them in Wellington, Paraparaumu, and Porirua in New Zealand. They are also in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad in Pakistan. Other locations include Dhaka in Bangladesh. You can also find them in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.
Butlers has also expanded into the Great Britain. They opened a café in Westfield, London. Their chocolates are now sold in many major airports in the UK. You can also buy them in Waitrose stores.
In 2003, Butlers Chocolates moved its main office and factory. It is now located in Clonshaugh, Dublin 17.
Butlers plans to keep growing around the world. They use a special business model called franchising. This helps them open new shops outside of Ireland and Great Britain.
