The Sweet Beginning of Butlers Chocolates
Butlers Chocolates began a long time ago, in 1932. A clever lady named Marion Bailey-Butler started the company. She made all her chocolates by hand in a place called Lad Lane in Dublin. Her handmade chocolates were very special and tasty.
A New Chapter for Butlers
In 1959, a person named Seamus Sorensen bought the company. Later, in 1984, the name "Butlers Irish Chocolates" was created. This new name was chosen to remember Marion Bailey-Butler, the amazing founder.
Butlers Chocolate Cafes and Shops
Butlers Chocolates opened its very first shop in 1989. This shop was on Grafton Street in Dublin City Centre. Since then, many more Butlers shops have opened all over Ireland. You can even find two Butlers shops far away in New Zealand!
Growing with Cafes
The first Butlers Chocolate Café opened its doors in 1998. It was on Wicklow Street in Dublin. Since then, Butlers has opened many more cafes. There are now over 39 Butlers Chocolate Cafés! You can find them in many Irish cities like Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Naas, Kildare, and Bray.
Butlers Cafes have also opened in other countries. You can find them in cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad in Pakistan. There's also a Butlers Chocolate Café in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
Expanding Around the World
Butlers Chocolates has also grown into Great Britain. They opened a café in Westfield, London. Their chocolates are now sold in many big airports across the UK. You can also find them in Waitrose stores, which are popular supermarkets.
In 2003, Butlers Chocolates moved to a new, bigger location. Their main office and factory are now in Clonshaugh, Dublin 17. Butlers plans to keep growing and share their delicious chocolates with even more people around the world. They do this by working with other businesses in a special way called franchising.
