Her Early Life and Education
Cécile Gagnon grew up in Quebec City. She loved learning and went to many different schools. She studied literature at Université Laval. Later, she learned about graphic arts in Boston and Paris. She also studied art education. She even learned Italian in Montreal and Siena! All these studies helped her become a talented writer and artist.
A Career in Children's Literature
Cécile Gagnon has dedicated her life to books for young people. From 1971 to 1973, she worked on Safari magazine for children. She was also the editor-in-chief for "Cahiers Passe-partout" at the Quebec Ministry of Education. She wrote for many other magazines too. These included Lurelu and the IBBY Newsletter. She was also the editor-in-chief for Coulicou magazine.
Cécile Gagnon helped create the "Brindille" and "Libellule" book collections. These collections were published by Les Éditions Héritage
. She was also a founding member of Communication-Jeunesse . This group helps promote children's and young adult literature in Quebec. She was even its president from 1977 to 1979.Awards and Recognition
