His Work and Public Service

Ratnasabhapathy Mudaliar studied in Coimbatore. He started working for the Coimbatore Municipal Council in 1906. This council was like a local government for the city. He was a member for 20 years.

From 1921 to 1936, he became the Chairman of the Municipal Council. This meant he was in charge of making important decisions for Coimbatore. He helped bring clean water from Siruvani Waterfalls to the city. He also made sure Coimbatore got electricity from the Pykara power project.

He was also a member of the Madras Legislative Council from 1926 to 1936. This was a bigger government body for the Madras region.
